Kenner Police to participate in
Law Enforcement Torch Run on May 17
KENNER — The Kenner Police Department along with Harahan Police Department, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana State Police Troop B, Probation and Parole, DEA, FBI, Secret Service, U.S. Marshals and U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development members will participate in the 27th annual Louisiana Law Enforcement Torch Run on Thursday, May 17, 2012 to benefit Special Olympics Louisiana. Local officers have carried the “Flame of Hope” for Special Olympics throughout the area since the event came to Louisiana in 1985. To date, the Law Enforcement Torch Run is the largest fundraising and public awareness campaign for Special Olympics programs around the world.
The route for the Jefferson Parish leg of the Louisiana Law Enforcement Torch Run:
Beginning at approximately 8:00 a.m., runners will start out at Zephyr Stadium,
6000 Airline Hwy. in Metairie, and will run west on Airline Drive to Williams Blvd. They will travel north on Williams Blvd. towards Veterans Blvd. Runners will then travel west on Veterans Blvd. towards the Kenner Police Complex, located at 500 Veterans Blvd, where the run will end. The length of the route is approximately 6.3 miles.
