NOPD Investigating Fatality

New Orleans -The New Orleans Police Department’s Fatality Section is investigating an automobile fatality that left an unidentified male dead and a 25-year-old male in stable condition.  The name of the deceased is being withheld, pending notification of family members.  The accident occurred shortly after 5:00 A.M., on the ChefMenteurPassBridge.

According to investigators, for unknown reasons the driver of an unknown 4-door pick-up truck was travelling eastbound in the westbound travel lane and struck the driver of a Mack Dump Truck travelling westbound.

Emergency medical technicians arrived on the scene and pronounced the unidentified male dead.  The 25-year-old driver of the Mack Dump Truck was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in stable condition.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death and whether alcohol was a factor in this accident.  The accident remains under investigation.

Fatality Investigator, Michael Baldassaro, is in charge of the investigation.
