 Murder Investigation 

New Orleans, LA – Members of the New Orleans Police are investigating the apparent shooting death of a 21-year-old local male, whose name is being withheld, pending notification of family members.  The offense occurred shortly before 3:30 A.M., near the intersection of Dauphine and Canal Streets.  

According to investigators, Eighth District officers responded to a call of a "male shot" and, upon their arrival found the victim lying on the sidewalk suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds to the body.  Emergency medical technicians were summoned to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where he later died.

A preliminary investigation revealed the victim was involved in an altercation with the suspect prior to the shooting. 

Currently, investigators are in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) involved in this incident.  Homicide Detective Melanie Dillon is in charge of the investigation and can be reached at 658-5300.
