Hello Everyone,
I would like to take this opportunity to announce the upcoming start of the new class of the Citizen’s Police/> Academy/>/>. The next class will begin on January 5, 2011.
The classes will be held once a week on each Wednesday at 6:30PM. The new location will be
401 City Park Ave./>(the old municipal training academy).
As you all know the Superintendent has recently announced several initiatives aimed at rebuilding the community’s confidence in the New Orleans Police Department.
One such initiative is the resurgence of the Citizen’s Police/>/> Academy/>/>/>/>. This program will offer a first hand look at the process of building a new recruit into a New Orleans Police Officer. The program facilitates this through allowing individuals to participate in truncated portions of the actual training given to all NOPD recruits.
Upon completing the Citizen’s Academy you will garner a new found understanding into the complex and often precarious situations faced by the men and women of the NOPD on a daily basis.
Any persons interested in attending the new class should send inquiries
to Sgt. Robert W. Kirton, III, at the contact information below.
It is my hope that you avail yourselves of this opportunity to gain this very valuable insight into the NOPD.
Thank you,
Sergeant Robert W. Kirton, III
