S.O.D. Task Force Unit Booked 23 Suspects Last Week
The Special Operations Division Task Force Unit investigated 144 complaints, made 23 arrests for 29 Felonies, 65 Misdemeanors and 3 Municipal violations. Officers conducted 70 vehicle stops and made 1 Traffic arrest. The unit made 1 Narcotics case, conducted 97 wanted checks and made 146 pedestrian contacts. They wrote 93 reports and confiscated 1.0 gram of Crack Cocaine. These results are from October 10, 2010 thru October 16, 2010.
Chief Serpas said, “The devotion these officers display for their work can be measured in the totality of the results they obtain”.
On 10/11/10, Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 3000 block of
General Pershing Street. Officers checked the driver’s name, 44-year-old Janet Mimitte, and learned she had an outstanding warrant from Jefferson Parish and was placed under arrest. Once at Central Lockup, a more thorough search by a female Deputy discovered that Mimitte had concealed on her person, three wrapped plastic bags which contained an off-white rock like substance. The substance was field tested and determined to be crack cocaine. Mimitte was charged with Possession of Crack Cocaine, Fugitive from Jefferson Parish, and Possession of Contraband in Jail.
On 10/11/10, a known 16 year old African American male was wanted for Simple Robbery at
4835 Corinne Street on 10-8-10. He was arrested at 5316 Michoud Blvd.
On 10/13/10, 35-year-old Shawne Jackson was wanted by the Sex Crimes Unit for Forcible Rape and Oral Sexual Battery at
2000 Lakeshore Drive on 4-11-00. Jackson was additionally charged with Forcible Rape in a separate incident which occurred at 2500 Pauger Street on 8-18-00. DNA testing identified Jackson as the perpetrator. Jackson was arrested at 7304 Mistletoe Street, Metairie, La.; he was booked in Jefferson Parish and then transported to New Orleans.
On 10/13/10, 21-year-old Michael Williams was wanted by the Sex Crimes Unit for Forcible Rape at
5131 Bundy Road on 5-12-10. Through their investigation the Violent Offenders Warrant Squad Detectives located Williams, who is currently enlisted in the Army at Fort Knox Army Base. The military police were notified and Williams was taken into custody.
On 10/14/10, 24 year-old Kenneth Clark was arrested by the Violent Offenders Warrant Squad and U.S. Marshals for murder in Jefferson Parish. He was located at
1110 L.B. Landry Street and turned over to the Jefferson Parish Sheriffs Office.
On 10/14/10, 45-year-old Trent Bunn was wanted for Aggravated Battery at
6000 Chef Hwy Apt# 247. Bunn turned himself in at lockup and was booked accordingly.
On 10/15/10, 19-year-old Kentay Lamothe was wanted for Attempted Murder in the 1900 block of
Shady Tree Lane on 8-5-10. Lamothe was arrested at 6364 Woodland.
On 10/15/10, 21-year-old Dylan Rosevear was wanted by the Sex Crimes Unit for Simple Rape at
6401 Willow Street on 10-10-10. Rosevear was arrested at 934 Lowerline Street.On 10/15/10, Members of The Special Operations Division Tactical Platoons conducted an undercover operation in the 200 block of
North Miro Street. Officers were in the alley of 214 North Miro Street, when they observed a 15 year old African American male, walking towards them from Bienville Street. The juvenile approached them and asked them what they were doing. One undercover officer stated “nothing”. The juvenile asked “what are ya’ll waiting for”? The undercover officer stated “nobody”. The juvenile then proceeded toward the rear of the residence at a quick pace. One of the undercover officers observed that the juvenile had a semi-automatic handgun in his left hand behind his back. By this time one of the undercover officers was in front of the residence on the sidewalk. The second undercover officer had also walked up to the location. The juvenile then showed the undercover officer the gun and in a threatening matter stated “What’s up”. The second undercover officer observed what was happening and called for additional units. The known juvenile observed marked police units approaching and fled on foot towards the rear of the house at 214 North Miro Street. After a brief foot pursuit, Officers apprehended the juvenile. Officers recovered the weapon and found it to be a blue steel Lorcin, 32 Caliber loaded with seven .32 caliber rounds. Officers checked the weapon thru N.C.I.C. and learned that it was reported stolen in Jefferson Parish. The juvenile was charged with Illegal Carrying of a Weapon, Aggravated Assault (2 counts), Resisting Arrest and Possession of Stolen Property.On 10/16/10, 22-year-old Kevin Mundy was wanted for Residence Burglary at
5501 Tullis Dr. Apt H 107 on 9-18-10. Mundy agreed to meet officers at 5501 Bundy to surrender himself. Mundy was placed under arrest and transported to lockup.
Since July of 2010, Officers investigated approximately 2,011 complaints, executed approximately 11 Search Warrants, made approximately 256 Felony cases, conducted approximately 857 vehicle checks, issued approximately 79 citations, made approximately 56 Narcotics cases, confiscated approximately 37 guns and numerous amounts of Illegal Substances.
