Special Undercover Drug Buy/Bust Operation Nets 51 Arrests; 2 Subjects at Large

(June 8, 2011)- Today Superintendent Ronal Serpas and the Special Investigations Division’s Narcotics/Vice unit will discuss last month’s successful citywide Drug Buy/Bust Operation that resulted in 51 arrests.  District Narcotics Units also assisted in the operation.  Dozens of photos of drugs seized will be displayed.

Suspects bought and sold thousands of dollars worth in crack cocaine, heroin, marijuana and counterfeit drugs from undercover detectives between May 9 and June 3 of this year.  Hundreds of grams of the illegal substances and cash changed hands and dealers were booked as a consequence.   51 suspects were arrested.  2 remain at large.  Video of the 2 men who got away will be shown at the conference.  The media will be asked to show the video to the public in hopes that someone might recognize the suspects and call Crimestoppers at 822-1111.

Gist:   Victim and perpetrator were involved in a verbal altercation.  The perpetrator stabbed the victim in the back and the hand with a box cutter.  The victim was transported to the hospital and the perpetrator was arrested.

  Gist:  Victim was exiting his vehicle when he was approached by an unknown male armed with a blue steel revolver demanding money and his car keys.  The victim showed the perpetrator his empty wallet and gave him his car keys.  The perpetrator jumped into the victim’s car and fled.

Gist: The victims were inside their residence at the above location when an unknown black male entered the residence through the rear door. The perpetrator unsuccessfully attempted to take the male victims wallet from him, pushing him down in the process. The perpetrator fled the residence through the rear door.

Gist:  Victim and arrested subject were arguing when the arrested subject produced a weapon firing at the victim, striking him in the neck.  Victim was taken to UniversityHospital.  Female was arrested on scene without incident.
