AGGRAVATED ASSAULT 3-8-10

On Monday, March 8, 2010, at about 2:15pm, the victims were walking in
the 1400 block of Gallier St. At about this time the wanted subject
emerged from an alleyway in the block. The wanted subject armed with
an assault rifle began to shoot at the victims. The victims fled the
scene.

Wanted:

Unknown b/m 6’3”, 230 lbs, white t-shirt, blue jeans, black ski mask,
armed with an AK-47 Rifle.

Fifth District Detectives are actively investigating this case.

If you have any further information on this incident or know the
whereabouts of the wanted subject, please call the Fifth District
Station 658-6050 and ask for Detective Pedescleaux.

You may also call Crime stoppers anonymously at 822-1111.

Remember to report any suspicious persons or activities you see in

immediately.

SHOOTING-3800 BLOCK OF SOUTH CARROLLTON AVENUE

Sixth District E-Mail Blast:

On Sunday, March 7, 2010, at approximately 8:25 p.m., the victim
was involved in an automobile accident with the perpetrator in the
3800 block of South Carrollton Avenue. At that time, the perpetrator,
who was identified as 24 year old Vernell Taylor, and his girlfriend
ran up to the victim’s vehicle threatening to harm the victim.
Fearing for his safety, the victim pulled off to call for police. As
he was doing so, Taylor pulled out a handgun and shot into the
victim’s vehicle, striking the victim in the leg. With the
assistances of Xavier Police, Taylor was apprehended on the scene.
Additional information regarding this arrest and prosecution can be
obtained via Docket Master at www.opcso.org. If anyone has information
regarding this incident, please contact the NOPD at 821-2222 or dial
911 for an emergency response. You may also call Crime Stoppers
anonymously at 822-1111 and may be eligible for a reward.

SHOOTING-2400 BLOCK OF JACKSON AVENUE

Sixth District E-Mail Blast:

On Sunday, March 7, 2010, at approximately 6:23 p.m., the victim
heard gunshots outside his residence and went to investigate. As he
opened his door he observed two black males dressed in all black
running across the street. At that time, there were more gunshots and
as the victim turned to go back inside his residence he was struck in
the back. If anyone has information regarding this incident, please
contact the NOPD at 821-2222 or dial 911 for an emergency response.

eligible for a reward.

On Monday, March 08, 2010, at about 5:11am the victim and the wanted
subject were in the 3200 block of N. Robertson St. The wanted subject
was arguing with a friend. At about this time the wanted subject
pointed a handgun at the victim and stated, “You are going to stay out
of our business.” The wanted subject then fired the weapon at the
victim.

Wanted:

Gary Chaney b/m 5-8-1989, 6’1”, 190 lbs

Fifth District Detectives are actively investigating this case.

If you have any further information on this incident or know the
whereabouts of the wanted subject, please call the Fifth District
Station 658-6050 and ask for Detective Johnson.

HOMICIDE 3-7-10

On Sunday, March 7, 2010, at about 11:52pm, officers responded to a
shooting in the 4300 block of N. Villere St. Upon arrival officers
observed the victims lying on the sidewalk suffering from gunshot
wounds. EMS arrived on the scene and a short time later the victims
were pronounced dead.

Wanted:

Unknown

Homicide Detectives are actively investigating this case.
