NOPD Investigating A Fatality That Left A 28-Year-Old Local Man Dead
New Orleans Police Department’s Fatality Section is investigating a Fatality that left a 28-year-old local man dead. The accident occurred at approximately 8:20 am at the intersection of Gen. Meyer and Easter Lane in Algiers.
An 82-year-old male driver of a Ford Ranger truck was stopped on Gen. Meyer Westbound at Easter Lane waiting to make a turn. When he attempted to turn, the 28-year-old male driver of a Suzuki motorcycle was traveling Eastbound on Gen. Meyer at a high rate of speed and struck the truck.
The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the truck was not injured in the incident.
The Orleans Parish Coroner will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
No citations were issued and the accident remains under investigation.
Fatality Investigator Edgar Edwards is in charge of the investigation.
