3-Year-Old Houma Girl Accidentally Shot in Foot by Relative
(May 11, 2012)- A 3-year-old Houma girl who was brought to New Orleans to attend a funeral with her family is in stable condition tonight after she was accidentally shot by a relative.
Just after 2:30 this afternoon, the child’s great aunt, 52-year-old Elaine Lee, was playing with a loaded gun at her home in the 2000-block of Franklin Avenue, when the gun went off and wounded the baby in her left foot.
The baby was taken to a nearby hospital where she is currently in stable condition.
Lee is now in police custody and charged with Negligent Injury and Child Endangerment.
