NOPD Arrests Career Criminal in North Gayoso Street Murder
(June 8, 2012)- Members of the NOPD’s Special Operations Division picked up the man believed to have shot and killed a business owner a couple of weeks ago in the First District.
Officers tracked down and arrested 31-year-old Aaron Kisack this morning near the corner of Esplanade Avenue and North Broad Street. Kisack is accused of gunning down 46-year-old Aaron Holmes at Holmes’ business in the 500-block of North Gayoso Street on May 29th.
Kisack was arguing with Holmes at the business, and at one point pulled out a black semi-automatic handgun, shot Holmes in the stomach, rifled through Holmes’ pockets to take his cash and then fled the scene.
Several people came to police to describe and identify Kisack as the gunman. Today, members of the community called officers to say they spotted Kisack in his car near the intersection of Esplanade and Broad. Minutes later, Special Operations Division officers went to that location and took Kisack into custody. He has been booked with First Degree Murder. A photo of Aaron Kisack is attached to this release.
“Our officers were able to get this suspect off the streets less than 2 weeks after he committed this heinous crime. His rap sheet, which is unbelievably extensive, is listed below. Again- we can thank people in the community for giving us the information we needed to do this”, said Superintendent Serpas. “The number of murder arrests is on the rise because the people of New Orleans have made it clear: We will not tolerate this violence in our city, and we are working with our police force to stop it.”
